Family Involvement

"In the drama of life, the most challenging and fulfilling role to be played is that of the parent – yet there is no script. The ‘rehearsals’ from raising other children or from your own upbringing don’t always apply. Each child is an individual and yearns for your attention, your unconditional love and your guidance. As a parent, spending one-on-one time with your child is the finest gift you can give. Lost time can never be replaced. Children thrive in knowing that, no matter how busy or how stressed you may be, you are willing to stop long enough to notice and love them.”

Parents’ Right to Review Teacher Qualifications

Payson Unified School District provides quality instructional staff to work with your children. Our teachers are recruited from teacher preparation programs in Arizona and from other school districts across Arizona and the nation. All Payson Schools teachers participate in ongoing professional development workshops and training sessions in order to maintain their content knowledge as well as their ability to plan and deliver high-quality, effective instruction. As a parent/guardian of a student in Payson Unified School District, you have a right to know the professional qualifications of the teachers who instruct your child.

Federal law allows you to ask for certain information about your child’s teachers and requires us to provide this information in a timely manner, should you request it. Specifically, you have the right to ask for the following information about each of your child’s teachers:

Whether the Arizona Department of Education has licensed or qualified the teacher for the grades and subjects he or she teaches; Whether the Arizona Department of Education has decided that the teacher can teach in a classroom without being licensed or qualified under state regulations because of special circumstances; The teacher’s college major, whether the teacher has any advanced degrees and, if so, the subject of the degrees; And, whether any teacher’s aides or similar paraprofessionals provide services to your child and, if they do, their qualifications. Payson Unified School District is proud of the efforts of our administrators, teachers and support staff to consistently provide an excellent education to all students. Payson Schools looks forward to your continued support of our goals for your children, by having high expectations for student achievement, maintaining your involvement in our schools and supporting your student’s good behavior. Together we will work to ensure all students’ success.

If you would like to receive any of the information described above, please contact your school principal.
